Cold Front Alert: Prepare for a Sudden Drop in Temperatures

We hit 90 degrees today! While that's not a record—95 degrees was set in 2020—it is still 10 degrees above normal. This significant warm spell has prompted me to trigger a Weather Authority Alert for tomorrow’s impending cold front. A high of 75 degrees may not seem too chilly, but after such warm weather, you might need a jacket in the morning.

TODAY’S FORECAST

Tonight, expect partly cloudy skies with a few passing drops that will likely evaporate before they reach the ground. Winds will be coming from the east at 5-10 mph but will become gusty after midnight as the cold front approaches. The overnight low will settle around 58 degrees.

WEATHER AUTHORITY ALERT

KTSM has issued a Weather Authority Alert due to a significant drop in temperatures with the cold front expected on Wednesday. Under partly to mostly cloudy skies, east winds will range from 15-35 mph, with stronger gusts expected on the west slopes. The daytime high will drop to 75 degrees but may feel colder, especially in the morning. Be sure to grab a jacket; this drop in temperature may catch you off guard.

LOOKING AHEAD

Thursday will continue the trend of partly to mostly cloudy conditions, with scattered showers possible. The high will be around 76 degrees, and the southeast winds will range from 5-20 mph, making it feel a bit cooler at times.

As we move into Friday, expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with warmer winds. Southwest winds will gust to near 25 mph, allowing temperatures to rise back to 83 degrees. However, another cold front will arrive on Saturday, bringing the high down to 69 degrees. With gusts reaching 35 mph, Saturday will feel quite chilly.

Sunday will be partly cloudy and warmer, with a high of 77 degrees thanks to the warmer southwest winds.
